A while back, I was in a relationship with someone who turned out to be an extremely negative person. Over time, I had become negative towards them in my thoughts and didn't even realize it. After reading books by Florence Scovel Shinn, an expert concerning positive manifestation, I took her advice to govern my thoughts more intentionally.
The exercise that I gave myself was to pray whenever I had a negative thought towards him enter into my mind. Unbeknownst to me, I was having plenty of them all of the time. I personally chose to pray in tongues to remove myself and my obvious biases out of the equation and leave the resolve to God. Needless to say, I developed a pretty strong prayer life. After a couple of days, I expanded the exercise to counter all negative thoughts with prayer. As a result, when it came to him, most offenses self-corrected in a short period of time without any direct input from me, and overall, I just felt less burdened and weighed-down by life. I was getting back to my old self. However, it was definitely a new and improved version thanks to my choosing to rely on earnest and sincere prayer instead of reacting to negativity with more negativity.
Doing something as simple as replacing my negative thoughts with prayer greatly improved my life outlook. Going forward, I challenge you to pray instead of giving life to the negative things or thoughts that enter into your mind. It's a great way to check yourself to make sure that you're not attracting even more negativity. Accentuate the positive, and replace negative thoughts with prayer and watch how many fewer battles you have to fight in life to win and how you flourish spiritually.
